There are spectacular places all around the world, but nothing is more mesmerizing than a thundering waterfall cascading down into a refreshing pool. While standing next to this powerful feat of nature with water droplets brushing your face, you can’t help but feel a sense of serenity falling over you. Head over to these Northern Towns which have some of the most scenic waterfalls in the United States.

Perched amid the majestic Cascades, Bend in Oregon is the perfect destination for adventurers where the Deschutes River and mountains provide many activities such as skiing, snowboarding, kayaking, and canoeing. Only a short distance away from the city, you can marvel at the 89 foot tall Tumalo falls which can be admired from the viewpoints at the base and the top. However, it doesn’t end here. The Tumalo falls loop takes you to a few waterfalls on a 9.2 km loop. The difficulty level is moderate and it takes around 2-3 hours for the entire loop.

The Rocky Mountains provide Missoula with an exciting playground for anyone outdoorsy. If you’d like to hike a spectacular, but easy trail, the Blodgett Canyon to waterfall hike is the one for you. It’s a 5.6 km hike through forest, valleys and a glacially carved canyon with a beautiful waterfall waiting for you at the end of the hike. After your hike, have a rest in Gibson Mansion, a beautifully restored Victorian mansion in central Missoula.

Syracuse: Perfect Base for Waterfall Hunting

Syracuse, New York, offers an interesting mix of history, culture and adventure to visitors. Fans of thundering waterfalls will be in for a treat as Syracuse is the perfect base for waterfall hunting. 24 Minutes to the east of the city is Chittenango Falls State Park where a 167 foot waterfall is stealing the show. An hour to the South West of Syracuse is Finger Lakes, which features a variety of stunning waterfalls. A 24 minute drive to the South East of Syracuse will take you to Pratt’s Falls Park where a scenic trail leads to a 137 foot high glacier formed waterfall.

Apart from a myriad of mine shafts and caves, the Black Hills in Rapid City have something else to hide. Buried 600 feet within the mountain, a 30 foot underground waterfall cascades out of the wall. It’s a unique roaring spectacle not to be missed on your visit to the South Dakota city. After emerging from the darkness, check into Alex Johnson Hotel. History meets modern luxury in this beautiful historic hotel which features gorgeous wooden beams and modern features throughout.

Whatcom Falls Park in Bellingham

Bellingham is a city for outdoor, beach, and culture lovers. Only 5 minutes outside the city, you’ll find Whatcom falls park. There are four sets of waterfalls which are easily reached on the walking trails. The falls might not be the most impressive ones, but they surely are photogenic, so don’t forget your camera and tripod.
